Learning language with songs could be useful for developing listening skills and pronunciation, and learning the sentence structure along the way.

The song Kumusta Ka Aking Mahal is popularized by Freddie Aguilar a well-known Musician/artist in the Philippines and in some countries in Asia.

This is an easy listening music, and it's easy to remember too. Although it's an oldie music the words used are still common in daily life.

The definition and usage of the words.

kumusta – a greeting form similar to how is/are ~ ; used to ask someone’s well-being


ka – you


aking – my/mine


sinta - dear/ darling/love


mahal – beloved;  in the song mahal means love/dear/beloved; another definiton for mahal –
expensive


nasa – used as location particle; e.g. Nasa Amerika ako.-- I'm in America.; Nasa eroplano ako. – i’m on the airplane.


mga – used as a particle that pluralizes nouns; e.g Mga tao. – The people.


ako’y – this word is the contraction of ako ay which means I am.


kita - this word has various meanings, in the song it means you.


huwag – do not


mong –  mo (2^nd person singular) you; however we add ng to know that the action is occurring in the present.


intindihin – worry, think of


nakakaraos – nakaka + raos;   nakaka –adj. prefix mean -ing state, position, or appearance; raos –

survive ng to know that the action is occurring in the present.


gabing – gabi + ng; gabi – night; ng to know that the action is occurring in the present.


dinadaan – dina + daan; dina – prefix mean – ing state; daan – way;

sa – (in,on,at,etc) location particle


sana - a prepositon used in conditional state; hope; wish


naaaliw – na + a + aliw; na – prefix mean –ing state; a – infix to emphasize that the action

continuous; aliw – comfort /consolation


panaginip – dream


ikaw – you


dilat –  wide-eyed


mata –  eye


kahit – eventhough


malayo – far


nalulungkot - (na + lu + lungkot) na - prefix, to indicate -ing state; lu - infix, to indicate -ing state;

lungkot - sad, lonely


kapiling - by the side of


madadama - (madama + da -infix to emphasize the first conditional state) to feel;


parang – seems like; used for comparison; e.g. Parang kang rosas. - You are like a rose.


mayakap – ma + yakap; ma – prefix to emphasize the time being; yakap – embrace


malamig – ma + lamig; lamig – cold


simoy – breeze


hangin – wind
